PWD Officer Dies in Dewas Road Accident

DEWAS: A Public Works Department (PWD) official died following a road accident in Madhya Pradesh’s Dewas district on Friday, police said.

The deceased was identified as Daryav Singh Parmar, a Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) posted in Betul district. He was travelling to Dhar when the accident occurred.

According to police, the incident took place at around 11 a.m. on the Harda-Indore highway, about four kilometres before Kannod. Preliminary information suggests that the Bolero vehicle in which Parmar was travelling collided with a roadside wall and an iron structure.

Parmar sustained serious injuries to his head and chest. Local residents informed emergency services and helped shift him to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Kannod. Doctors declared him dead upon examination.

Officials said Parmar had left his residence earlier in the morning for Dhar. It was not immediately clear whether he was driving the vehicle or travelling with a driver at the time of the accident.

Parmar had been serving in Betul since his transfer from Dewas in 2021. He is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.

Police have initiated an investigation and registered a case. A post-mortem examination will be conducted in Kannod. Officials said the exact circumstances leading to the accident would be determined after the investigation and post-mortem report.
