SATNA: A baby python entered the labour room of a district hospital in Madhya Pradesh’s Satna district, causing panic among patients, attendants and medical staff.
The reptile was spotted at about 1 a.m. crawling between delivery tables in the labour ward. Staff immediately moved patients and attendants to a safe area and alerted hospital workers.
The snake was later captured and removed from the hospital premises without causing any injuries. A video of the incident later surfaced online.
Hospital sources said the labour room is adjacent to a washroom with a window overlooking an area where bushes and waste have accumulated. Officials suspect the python entered the ward through that route.
The incident has raised concerns about cleanliness and maintenance at the hospital, with questions being raised over measures to prevent snakes and other animals from entering patient-care areas.
No injuries were reported, and hospital operations continued as normal after the reptile was removed.
