WCR Employee Abhishek Sharma Wins Regional Hindi Quiz Held In Jabalpur
WCR employee Abhishek Sharma has secured first place in the regional Rail Hindi Quiz Competition, earning him a spot to represent West Central Railway at the national-level contest, officials announced on Saturday.
Sharma, who works as a junior clerk in the Personnel Department at the Coach Rebuilding Factory in Nishatpura, Bhopal, achieved the feat at an event held at the West Central Railway headquarters in Jabalpur on 7 August 2026.
WCR Scheme Aims To Promote Hindi Usage In Government Offices
WCR’s quiz competition is part of the Railway Ministry’s ‘Akhil Rail Hindi Prashnottari Pratiyogita’ scheme, introduced to encourage the use of Hindi in official railway work and generate interest in the language among employees. The scheme is implemented in stages, starting with factory-level rounds and moving up to regional and national levels.
Following instructions from the West Central Railway headquarters, the Coach Rebuilding Factory in Nishatpura organised its factory-level round on 20 July 2026 under the supervision of Chief Factory Manager Praful V. Kohade. The event was coordinated by Rajbhasha Liaison Officer and Assistant Personnel Officer Sandeep Sharma. A total of 80 railway employees took part in this first stage, and Abhishek Sharma secured third place at the factory level.
Sharma Secures First Place Among 18 Participants At Regional Level
Sharma’s performance improved significantly at the regional round held in Jabalpur. The competition, conducted in three rounds, saw participation from 18 officers and employees representing six units of West Central Railway. Sharma emerged as the winner across all three rounds, securing first place in the regional competition.
With this win, Sharma has qualified to represent West Central Railway at the ‘Akhil Rail Hindi Prashnottari Pratiyogita-2026’, which will be organised at the Railway Board level. This marks a significant step up for the Bhopal-based employee, moving from a factory-level competitor to a national-level representative within a matter of weeks.
Factory Staff And Officials Celebrate Sharma’s Achievement
News of Sharma’s win brought a wave of enthusiasm at the Nishatpura factory. Chief Factory Manager Praful V. Kohade, along with other officers and employees, congratulated Sharma and wished him success in the upcoming national competition.
A felicitation ceremony was organised at the factory under the chairmanship of Sandeep Sharma, where Abhishek Sharma was honoured with a garland in recognition of his achievement. The event served as both a celebration of his win and an encouragement for other employees to take part in similar language-promotion initiatives.
Sharma Credits Rajbhasha Section For Guidance And Support
Abhishek Sharma attributed his success to the guidance and support provided by the Rajbhasha (Official Language) section at the factory. He said the consistent mentorship he received played an important role in his preparation for both the factory-level and regional rounds of the competition.
Sandeep Sharma assured Sharma of full support ahead of the national-level competition and appealed to other employees to draw inspiration from this achievement. He said such initiatives help build a stronger connection between railway staff and the use of Hindi in day-to-day government functioning, in line with the broader objectives of the Railway Ministry’s language promotion scheme.
The quiz competition began at the factory level on July 20, 2026, at Nishatpura in Bhopal, where 80 employees participated and Sharma secured third place. At the regional level, held in Jabalpur on August 7, 2026, Sharma finished first among 18 officers and employees representing six units. Following the regional victory, Sharma has qualified for the national-level competition, which will be conducted by the Railway Board. The date for the national-level competition is yet to be announced.
