NEET Paper Leak NTA Officials Face Major Action
New Delhi: NEET Paper Leak NTA Officials came under major action on Friday after the National Testing Agency (NTA) dismissed 47 officials as part of a wider overhaul following the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak. According to ANI, citing official sources, criminal cases will also be initiated against the dismissed officials.
The action is part of a broader reform programme aimed at strengthening the examination system and restoring public confidence after the controversy surrounding the medical entrance examination.
Officials said the government is planning further structural changes within the NTA. These include changes to the agency’s outsourcing system and the introduction of stronger technology to reduce the risk of paper leaks and improve examination security.
NEET Paper Leak NTA Officials Removed Amid Wider Reforms
The decision came a day after the Centre reassigned two senior officials in the Ministry of Education. Government sources said the latest action is linked to ongoing efforts to improve the functioning of the NTA and make national entrance examinations more secure and transparent.
The proposed reforms include stricter monitoring of outsourced services, improved digital security and changes to examination processes to prevent future leaks.
PM Modi Calls Paper Leak a Serious Concern
The dismissal of the officials came less than a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi released a video message addressing the NEET paper leak issue.
In the video posted on X late on Thursday, the Prime Minister described paper leaks as a serious matter affecting lakhs of students and their families. He said the government had taken several steps over the past two and a half months, including the arrest of accused persons and conducting the examination again to ensure that students did not lose an academic year.
He also said the government had directed the creation of fast-track courts to ensure quicker trials in paper leak cases.
“PAPER LEAKS ARE NOT A MINOR ISSUE. THEY AFFECT THE FUTURE OF LAKHS OF STUDENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES,” PRIME MINISTER NARENDRA MODI SAID IN HIS VIDEO MESSAGE.
Background of the NEET-UG 2026 Paper Leak
The NEET-UG 2026 examination, held on 3 May 2026, was cancelled after allegations of a paper leak emerged. The examination was conducted again for nearly 22 lakh candidates.
The controversy triggered protests in several parts of the country. Students and members of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) have been protesting at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, demanding accountability and reforms in the examination system.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is investigating the case. According to official information, searches have been conducted in several states, including Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Delhi. So far, 13 people have been arrested, and the agency is expected to file its chargesheet in the case.
Government Tightens Anti-Paper Leak Measures
The Centre has already strengthened the legal framework to deal with examination fraud through the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024.
The law makes offences such as paper leaks, organised cheating, unauthorised access to examination material and related fraud non-bailable. It provides imprisonment ranging from three to ten years, depending on the nature of the offence, along with financial penalties that can extend to Rs 1 crore in cases involving examination authorities or management officials.
The removal of NEET Paper Leak NTA Officials marks one of the biggest administrative actions taken since the controversy surfaced. More reforms are expected as the investigation continues.
