Omar Abdullah marries journalist Nidhi Razdan

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has begun a new chapter in his personal life, marrying journalist Nidhi Razdan in a private ceremony on Friday, October 30. The couple announced the news through social media posts on Saturday.

Abdullah shared photographs with Razdan on X, captioning them, “A new journey began yesterday”, accompanied by a ring emoji. Razdan also confirmed the wedding in a post, tagging the Chief Minister and writing, “It’s done, bro”.

The announcement attracted widespread attention, with congratulatory messages pouring in from social media users and public figures.

According to media reports, the wedding celebrations were held privately, with a reception organised in Delhi on Saturday.

The development comes three months after the Supreme Court dissolved Abdullah’s marriage to his estranged wife, Payal Abdullah, on July 31, 2026. The court granted the divorce after both parties reached a mutual settlement and agreed to withdraw pending legal cases.

Omar Abdullah and Payal married in 1994 and have two sons, Zahir and Zamir. The couple had been living separately for several years before their legal separation was finalised.

Razdan is a prominent journalist who has covered national politics and international affairs. She previously worked with NDTV and is also the author of Left, Right and Centre: The Idea of India.
