Bhopal Municipal Corporation distributed PPE kits to sanitation workers on Wednesday under the Namaste Scheme to improve workplace safety and health conditions.
The civic body organised distribution programmes at multiple zonal offices in Bhopal. Mayor Malti Rai distributed kits at Zone 4 office in Mangalwara, while Corporation President Kishan Suryavanshi handed over kits at the civic headquarters.
The initiative forms part of the Swachh Bharat Mission and focuses on improving safety standards for sanitation workers and door-to-door waste collection staff.
“The kits have been provided to ensure safety, convenience and better health for sanitation workers,” Mayor Malti Rai said.
PPE kits for sanitation workers include rain gear
Officials said the PPE kits for sanitation workers include gloves, gumboots and raincoats.
The civic body decided to distribute rain protection gear before the monsoon season to help sanitation workers continue field operations safely during heavy rainfall.
Officials also distributed kits at other zonal offices across the city.
Civic body stresses worker safety
Mayor Malti Rai urged sanitation workers to use the protective gear regularly while carrying out field duties.
She said the initiative aimed to strengthen worker safety and support the campaign for a cleaner and healthier Bhopal.
Corporation President Kishan Suryavanshi said the programme would help sanitation workers perform duties more safely while improving public hygiene standards.
He added that advance distribution of raincoats would help workers during the upcoming rainy season.
CM had earlier launched distribution drive
Officials said Mohan Yadav had earlier distributed PPE kits to sanitation workers during the inauguration of the new municipal headquarters building.
The civic body is continuing the distribution process under the Namaste Scheme across all zones.
Councillors, health department officials and sanitation workers attended the programme.
