MP CM Takes Delhi Metro, Cuts Convoy to Save Fuel

NEW DELHI: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav travelled by Delhi Metro on Thursday, leaving behind his official convoy during his visit to the national capital.

The move comes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed for reduced fuel consumption and greater use of public transport.

CM travelled from Shivaji Stadium to Delhi Aerocity by Metro and interacted with passengers during the journey. Some commuters praised Madhya Pradesh as a tourist destination, while the chief minister spoke about public participation in development and responsible fuel use.

Later, speaking to reporters, CM said the Madhya Pradesh government had prepared guidelines to support the Prime Minister’s appeal. He said the state government was promoting virtual meetings and encouraging ministers and officials to reduce the use of vehicles wherever possible.

The chief minister said reducing fuel consumption would help lower dependence on imports and save foreign exchange.

CM also said the number of vehicles in his official convoy had already been reduced and ministers had been advised to avoid large vehicle rallies during official tours.

During his Delhi visit, the chief minister met Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi and Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.
