An unexploded ordnance (UXO) bomb was recovered from underground during construction work in Gadehari village near Dumna Airport in Jabalpur, triggering panic in the area.
Labourers were digging for pillar construction at a private plot when they noticed a metallic object buried nearly 3–4 feet underground. Initially mistaken for scrap iron, it was later suspected to be a bomb, following which work was stopped immediately and authorities were alerted.
Police along with a bomb disposal squad reached the spot and cordoned off the area. After inspection, officials confirmed it was a UXO bomb weighing over 12kg with an estimated blast radius of around 50 metres.
Nearby residents were evacuated as a precaution. The device was taken into custody and handed over to Army authorities for defusal and further action.
The site is located around 6 km from the Khamaria Ordnance Factory. Police said a detailed investigation is underway.
