CM: Police to Act Against Anti-National Networks

BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav said on Saturday that police had dismantled a network allegedly linked to Pakistani handlers and would continue to identify and act against similar groups that could threaten national security.

Speaking after inaugurating the Inspector General (IG) Conference at the state police headquarters in Bhopal, Yadav said police had uncovered material they suspect is linked to extremist activities and had launched further investigations.

Referring to the recent arrest of a man identified as Faraz, whom police allege worked under the direction of Pakistani handlers, Yadav said officers would track down and take action against others involved in similar activities.

CM said the state police had achieved several milestones during the past two-and-a-half years. He credited the force with eliminating Naxal activity in Madhya Pradesh and strengthening the state’s response to cybercrime.

The chief minister said the state had recruited sub-inspectors for the first time in eight years and would fill 22,000 police vacancies over the next three years through annual recruitment drives.

He also praised police for handling law and order effectively after a court ruling related to the Bhojshala site in Dhar.

Addressing senior officers, CM said police must maintain public trust and protect public safety. He instructed officers to treat victims with respect, protect their interests and respond quickly to their complaints.

CM urged police to prioritise cybercrime prevention and public awareness campaigns. He also directed officers to reduce road accidents, combat human trafficking, strengthen protections for women and children, and enforce court directives on the use of loudspeakers at religious sites.

The chief minister said police would help ensure safe and efficient management of the Simhastha 2028 religious gathering in Ujjain, which is expected to attract millions of devotees.
