President Begins Five-Day MP Visit

INDORE:  President Droupadi Murmu arrived in Indore on Thursday to begin a five-day visit to Madhya Pradesh.

She was received at Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport by Governor Mangubhai Patel and Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav before travelling to Omkareshwar, where she is scheduled to offer prayers at the Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga temple.

Security has been tightened in Indore and Omkareshwar ahead of the President’s visit. Authorities have also implemented traffic diversions and additional arrangements for pilgrims.

President Murmu is scheduled to remain in the state until June 22. On June 19, she is expected to participate in an awareness programme marking International Sickle Cell Day. She will also attend official events in Gwalior and Sheopur during her visit.

According to Indore Collector Shivam Verma, the airport area and adjoining locations have been declared a temporary no-flying zone. Traffic restrictions and diversions are in place from June 17 to June 19 to facilitate the movement of the President’s convoy and ensure public safety.

Special parking facilities and shuttle bus services have been arranged for visitors to Omkareshwar. The administration has advised residents and travellers to follow traffic advisories and plan journeys accordingly.

Heavy goods vehicles on the Indore–Ichhapur route have been diverted, while alternative routes have been designated for traffic travelling between Indore, Khandwa and neighbouring districts to minimise disruption during the visit.
