App-Based Cab Fares Rise in Bhopal

BHOPAL: App-based cab fares from Bhopal airport have increased after ride-hailing companies agreed to revise rates following demands from taxi operators, according to media reports.

The fare revision, the first major increase in nearly a decade, has raised the cost of airport rides and may soon be extended to city services.

Fares for trips from the airport to the DB Mall area have risen from about Rs 220-230 to around Rs 270-280. A journey to Avadhpuri, located about 24 kilometres away, now costs roughly Rs 440-450, up from about Rs 350 previously.

Taxi operators said rising petrol, diesel and CNG prices had significantly increased operating costs and affected drivers’ earnings. They said the airport fare revision provides partial relief, while changes to city ride fares are still pending.

Operators have given ride-hailing companies until June 25 to implement further fare revisions. They warned of protests and a boycott of app-based cab services if the demands are not met.

Representatives of ride-hailing platforms have reportedly assured operators that fare-related concerns are under review and that a decision on further revisions will be taken soon.
