MP Transco Marks Major Milestone As Sagar Lines Complete 1500 Days Without Breakdown
MP Transco, the Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company, has achieved a significant reliability milestone as eight of its extra high voltage transmission lines in Sagar have operated for nearly 1500 days without a single breakdown, Energy Minister Pradyuman Singh Tomar announced on Saturday.
MP Transco Confirms Four Years Of Uninterrupted Power Transmission In Sagar
MP Transco stated that these eight EHV lines in the Sagar region have not recorded a single breakdown in almost four years, marking one of the strongest reliability records in the state’s power transmission history. Some of these lines have long served as the backbone of the state’s electricity transmission system and continue to function without interruption even today.
Minister Tomar said the achievement reflects the sustained monitoring, technical expertise and dedication of the company’s engineers, technical staff and outsourced maintenance personnel. He noted that maintaining uninterrupted transmission over such a long period requires consistent effort across multiple levels of operations.
MP Transco Reports 593 Lines Achieving Similar Breakdown-Free Record
Along with the eight lines in Sagar, the minister said that 593 EHV transmission lines operated by MP Transco across the state have also run successfully without any breakdown for the past four years. This wider achievement suggests the reliability improvement is not limited to one region but reflects a broader, state-level trend in transmission infrastructure management.
Officials pointed out that operating hundreds of transmission lines without a single fault over a four-year stretch is a demanding technical achievement, given the scale and complexity of the state’s power network.
MP Transco Lists Lines That Achieved The Reliability Record In Sagar
MP Transco identified the specific lines in the Sagar region that achieved this milestone. These include the 400 KV Sagar-Bina (Power Grid) line and the 400 KV Sagar-Satna (Power Grid) line, along with two circuits of the 132 KV Sagar-Gaurjhamar line.

The list also includes the 132 KV Sagar-Rahatgarh line, the 132 KV Sagar-Banda line, and two circuits of the 132 KV Sagar Interconnector. All these transmission lines have completed nearly 1500 days of uninterrupted power transmission, setting a new benchmark for reliability in the region.
MP Transco Credits Modern Maintenance Technology For Reliability Gains
Minister Tomar explained that MP Transco has adopted several modern technologies to make its transmission network safer and more reliable. These include thermo-vision inspection, drone surveillance, SCADA-based real-time monitoring, online condition monitoring, and time-bound preventive maintenance.
He added that regular line patrolling, pre-monsoon maintenance, line corridor management, and tree pruning work help identify potential technical faults early and resolve them before they cause disruptions. According to the minister, the coordination between modern technology and continuous ground-level monitoring has steadily improved the reliability of the state’s transmission network, with the Sagar lines’ record performance serving as direct evidence of this progress.
MP Transco’s Record Reflects Broader Power Sector Modernisation Push
The achievement comes at a time when power transmission utilities across India are increasingly investing in digital monitoring tools and preventive maintenance systems to reduce outages and improve grid reliability. For Madhya Pradesh, a state with a large and geographically spread transmission network, sustained breakdown-free performance across nearly 600 lines marks a notable operational achievement for MP Transco.
