INDORE: Water supply in parts of Indore was affected on Tuesday after a leak in a 1,200 mm Narmada water supply pipeline near Rajendra Nagar Main Road, according to media reports.
The leak prompted the closure of pumps supplying water under Phases I and II of the Narmada Water Supply Project on Monday afternoon. The pumps were restarted at around 10 pm after repair work was completed.
However, the interruption affected the filling of 20 water storage tanks, leaving several areas facing water supply disruptions on Tuesday, media reports said.
The potentially affected areas include Annapurna, Scheme No. 103, Chhatri Bagh, Rajmohalla, Dravid Nagar, Lokmanya Nagar, Maharana, Narwal, Agarbatti, Kushwah Mohalla, Tigaria, Banganga, Subhash Chowk, Sadar Bazaar, Jinsi Haat, Malhar Ashram, Gandhi Hall, Bhakt Prahlad Nagar, MOG Lines and Jai Hind Nagar.
Abhishek Sharma, the municipal corporation’s water works in-charge, was quoted in media reports as saying that pumping operations had resumed after the repairs.
Residents in the affected areas were advised to use water carefully and avoid wastage. The timing and extent of the disruption may vary across neighbourhoods.
