Rajdeep Sardesai Opens Up About Cancer Battle

New Delhi: Veteran journalist Rajdeep Sardesai has reportedly spoken about his experience with prostate cancer, treatment and recovery at the India Today Health Wealth Conclave 2026.

According to media reports, Sardesai discussed his health journey during a session titled ‘Humne Cancer Ko Haraya’, alongside Dr Anshuman Agarwal, a senior urologist at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital.

Sardesai reportedly said he was diagnosed in June last year after routine medical tests conducted ahead of a planned hernia operation showed certain abnormalities, including elevated prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels.

Further medical investigations, including an MRI and biopsy, led to the diagnosis. He said the news came as a shock, as he had been planning a trip to England to watch a cricket match at Lord’s.

During the discussion, Sardesai spoke about the treatment options available to him, including surgery and radiation. He eventually opted for surgery after consulting his doctor.

He also acknowledged the support of his family, particularly his son, during the treatment and recovery period.

According to the reports, Sardesai is currently in remission and continues to undergo regular medical check-ups.

The discussion also highlighted the importance of prostate cancer awareness and seeking medical advice when necessary. Dr Agarwal reportedly noted that the disease may not always cause noticeable symptoms in its early stages.

Reflecting on the experience, Sardesai said it had changed his perspective on life and taught him not to take things for granted. He also stressed the importance of family support and living in the present.
