Indore: The Madhya Pradesh Women and Child Development Department has directed every officer to adopt at least one Anganwadi centre and take responsibility for its overall development.
At a review meeting in Indore on Thursday, the department’s commissioner said Anganwadi centres should be developed as model facilities focusing on children’s overall growth, rather than being limited to nutrition and pre-school education.
He stressed the need for clean premises, safe and child-friendly surroundings, better infrastructure and quality pre-school education. Officials were also asked to identify suitable rented buildings for centres operating without government premises.
Focus on staff concerns and digitalisation
During the meeting, Anganwadi workers raised concerns about difficulties in their daily work, including duplicate data entry in the Poshan Tracker and Sampark apps and delays caused by the facial recognition system.
The commissioner assured them that practical solutions would be explored. He also directed officials to reduce paperwork and promote digital record-keeping and administrative processes.
After the meeting, the commissioner visited an exhibition at the Indore Collectorate featuring decorative items and artistic lamps made by children from child protection institutions. He appreciated their creativity and purchased some of their handmade products.
