Eid Sanitation Efforts Earn Recognition in Bhopal

BHOPAL: Volunteers, social organisations and municipal officials who contributed to cleanliness and sanitation efforts during Eid-ul-Adha were honoured with the Cleanliness Award-2026 at a ceremony in Bhopal.

The awards recognised individuals and groups for their role in maintaining hygiene and raising public awareness during the festival. The event brought together community leaders, civic representatives and social workers to acknowledge the contributions of those involved in sanitation management.

A number of organisations, including Bhopal Serving Humanity, News Mohalla, Team BBM/SBM, Kirana Poorti, Rehman Foundation, Central Khidmat Team, Door of Peace, Heavens Welfare and Practicality Pulse for Education, jointly carried out cleanliness and awareness drives across the city.

The campaign was conducted under the slogan, “My Home, My Locality, My Ward, My Responsibility”, encouraging residents to participate in waste management and environmental cleanliness. Volunteers worked alongside teams from the Bhopal Municipal Corporation to promote the proper disposal of sacrificial waste and maintain hygienic surroundings during the festival.

Speaking at the event, City Qazi Mushtaq Ali Nadvi said cleanliness holds an important place in Islam and urged citizens to contribute towards keeping the city clean and green. Waqf Board Chairman Dr Sanwar Patel highlighted the importance of environmental conservation and called for greater participation in tree plantation and protection initiatives.

MLA Arif Masood praised the efforts of youth volunteers and social organisations, describing the campaign as a strong example of community participation. Social worker Syed Zahid Meer said the success of cleanliness initiatives depends on active public involvement and cooperation with civic authorities.

Awards were presented to assistant health officers, municipal staff, sanitation teams, youth volunteers and residents for their contribution to cleanliness management and public awareness campaigns in various parts of the city.
