Bhopal, May 14: The Bhopal Municipal Corporation continued its anti-encroachment drive across several parts of the city on Thursday and removed illegal structures, roadside obstructions and unauthorised encroachments from public spaces.
Acting on complaints received through the CM Helpline, Mayor Helpline and other channels, the civic body carried out enforcement action in multiple localities. Encroachment removal squads cleared illegal platforms built over drains, removed unauthorised sheds and demolished structures obstructing public movement.
Under the directions of Municipal Commissioner Sanskriti Jain, civic teams conducted operations in areas including Kotra Sultanabad, Rahul Nagar, Jawahar Chowk, Saraswati Nagar, Link Road No. 1, 2 and 3, New Market, MP Nagar Zone-1, Ayodhya Nagar, Arjun Nagar, Anand Nagar, Raisen Road, Patel Nagar, Ashoka Garden, Jahangirabad, Hamidia Road, Bhopal Railway Station area, Gandhi Nagar and Karond Housing Board.
During the drive, officials removed encroachments from footpaths and roadsides and cleared vegetable stalls and shop material that obstructed movement. Teams also took action against illegal tin sheds, platforms built over drains and unauthorised roadside installations.
The civic body removed sugarcane juice carts operating without permission in some areas and also cleared vehicles that were causing traffic obstruction.
Officials said the enforcement teams seized a large quantity of material during the operation. The seized items included 12 handcarts, four kiosks, one paan parlour unit, vehicle body parts, seven stand boards, chairs, folding tables, benches, iron pipes, steel pipes, nets and other roadside materials.
The Municipal Corporation said the anti-encroachment campaign will continue in different parts of the city to keep roads, footpaths and public spaces free from obstruction.
