BHOPAL: A 32-year-old widow has accused a colleague of raping her after allegedly administering an intoxicating substance and subsequently blackmailing and exploiting her for nearly four years, police said on Thursday.
The woman, employed with a private company, alleged in her complaint that the accused took her on an outing under the pretext of visiting a temple about four years ago. He allegedly mixed an intoxicating substance into a soft drink and sexually assaulted her while she was unconscious.
According to police, the woman claimed that the accused continued to threaten and exploit her over the following years.
She further alleged that the accused recently circulated her private photographs and videos on social media and shared them with her children and relatives.
Following the complaint, police registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and provisions related to the circulation of intimate content. Efforts are underway to trace the accused, police said. The investigation is ongoing.
