Gwalior: A dispute over a cricket ball landing in a field allegedly turned violent in Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior district after a farmer’s family objected to repeated damage to their crops.
Police said the incident occurred on 21 June in a village under the Maharajpura police station area. According to the family’s complaint, a large group gathered outside their home and allegedly pelted stones after being stopped from entering the field to retrieve the ball.
Police said a member of the farmer’s family fired warning shots into the air with a licensed rifle. The family said the shots were fired in self-defence after the crowd became violent.
An FIR was initially registered over the firing. Police later registered a separate case against the other group following the farmer’s complaint. Both cases remain under investigation.
