Germany, Denmark Record Extreme Heat

A heatwave affecting parts of Europe moved eastwards on Saturday, with Germany and Denmark recording their highest temperatures as several countries experienced extreme heat.

Germany recorded a new June temperature record of 41.3°C near Saarbruecken, while Denmark reported 37°C near Aarhus, the highest temperature recorded in the country since 1874.

Authorities issued heat warnings in Germany and advised people to use water carefully. Temperatures above 30°C were recorded in many parts of Poland, with some areas expected to see higher temperatures.

The heatwave disrupted transport services, increased pressure on healthcare systems and affected daily activities in several European countries. France and Italy also reported the impact of rising temperatures, including travel disruptions and heat-related concerns.

Experts said climate change has increased the possibility of extreme heat events.

Weather officials expect temperatures to gradually fall, with thunderstorms forecast in parts of Europe.
