INDORE: The Meghalaya government has moved the Supreme Court seeking cancellation of the bail granted to the main accused in the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case, after failing to obtain relief from the High Court.
According to the victim’s family, the plea is likely to come up for hearing on Friday.
Raghuvanshi, an Indore-based transport businessman, was allegedly murdered during his honeymoon in Shillong. Police allege that the killing was planned by his wife with the help of accomplices. All those named in the case were arrested during the investigation.
Some of the accused, including the main accused, have since been released on bail, while others remain in judicial custody.
The victim’s family has consistently opposed the grant of bail and has called for strict punishment for all those accused in the case. After the High Court declined to cancel the bail, the Meghalaya government filed an appeal before the Supreme Court seeking to have the order set aside.
The Supreme Court is expected to hear the matter on Friday.
