Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Friday said Madhya Pradesh is ready to deepen its partnership with Germany, especially in the energy sector, during a meeting with a delegation from Germany’s KfW Development Bank.
The four-member German delegation, led by KfW Development Bank CEO Christiane Laibach, met the Chief Minister at the state secretariat in Bhopal to discuss cooperation in energy and other development sectors.
During the meeting, Dr Yadav described India and Germany as “like two brothers” and said Madhya Pradesh would play a key role in strengthening ties between the two countries. He added that the state government is in regular contact with German industries and investors to promote investment and cooperation.
The Chief Minister also appreciated KfW Development Bank’s support for the state’s energy sector and expressed confidence that the partnership would continue to grow. He said German cooperation would help Madhya Pradesh become a more energy-efficient, green and prosperous state.
The German delegation informed the Chief Minister that around Rs 1,120 crore is being provided under the Energy Reform Programme for installing smart meters and feeder separation across the state’s power distribution companies.
The delegation also expressed interest in extending support under the Energy Reform Phase II. The proposed programme includes financial assistance of around €200 million for strengthening electricity distribution infrastructure and developing systems to supply power to agricultural feeders during solar generation hours.
Senior officials from the Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (MPIDC), the German Embassy and the Central Government were also present during the meeting.
