Railway Staff Save Injured Colleague

Staff of the West Central Railway’s Bhopal Division helped save the life of an on-duty railway employee after he was seriously injured in an accident near Itarsi, showing quick action and strong teamwork.

The employee, an AC mechanic working on Train No. 12628 Karnataka Express, was injured near the Hanuman Temple on the Itarsi outer section. He suffered serious injuries and heavy blood loss.

After receiving information about the accident, teams from the Railway Protection Force (RPF), the railway medical department and the electrical department reached the spot. The injured employee was taken by railway ambulance to a hospital in Itarsi for emergency treatment.

Railway officials found that the hospital’s agreement with the railway had ended on June 30. Despite this, railway doctors quickly arranged immediate medical care to ensure there was no delay in treatment.

Because the employee belonged to another railway zone and no family members were with him, railway staff took full responsibility for his care. They travelled with him by ambulance to a hospital in Bhopal, where he was referred for better treatment.

Doctors said the employee urgently needed blood due to heavy bleeding. Two railway employees voluntarily donated blood, helping doctors stabilise his condition. They stayed at the hospital until he was out of immediate danger.

Railway officials said the incident showed the dedication, teamwork and human values of railway staff, who worked together to ensure their colleague received timely medical care.
