SAGE University Bhopal hostel food quality came under scrutiny after students protested on campus following the discovery of a worm in a meal served in the hostel mess last night. Students have long complained about the quality and hygiene of the food, and the incident triggered widespread anger.
SAGE University Bhopal Students Demand Immediate Mess Reforms
Agitated students gathered on campus and demanded immediate improvements in the mess system. Members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) campus unit and police personnel reached the spot soon after.
ABVP workers heard the students’ grievances and appealed to them to voice their concerns peacefully. The situation was brought under control, and the students were sent back to the hostel safely. The ABVP also placed the students’ demands before the university administration.
SAGE University Bhopal Administration Faces ABVP Ultimatum
The ABVP said providing clean, nutritious and good-quality food to hostel residents was a basic responsibility of the university. It pointed out that complaints of irregularities in the mess had surfaced earlier as well, and said the lack of visible improvement was a matter of serious concern.
The organisation demanded a high-level inquiry into the mess operator and related arrangements, with strict action to follow. It warned that it would be compelled to launch a militant agitation in the interest of students if food and hygiene standards were not improved soon, holding the university administration responsible for the consequences.
The university administration had not issued a response at the time of writing.
