PM Surya Ghar Yojana Benefits 1.43 Lakh Consumers in MP

More than 1.43 lakh consumers in Madhya Pradesh have benefited under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana, with over Rs 1010 crore in subsidy already transferred to their bank accounts, Energy Minister Pradyuman Singh Tomar said on Tuesday.

Under the scheme, consumers receive subsidies based on solar plant capacity — Rs 30,000 for 1 kW, Rs 60,000 for 2 kW, and up to Rs 78,000 for 3 kW or above installations.

The scheme was launched on February 13, 2024, and applications can be submitted online through the official portal pmsuryaghar.gov.in. Consumers can also seek information through DISCOM websites, the energy department’s app, WhatsApp chatbot or toll-free number 1912.

The minister said it is mandatory that the name on the bank account, Aadhaar card and electricity bill match to ensure timely subsidy transfer. He also advised consumers to get solar systems installed only through registered and authorised vendors under the scheme.

Officials said only smart meters are being installed under the initiative to ensure efficient monitoring of solar energy generation and usage.

Region-wise data shows that under the Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitran Company area, over 51,343 systems have received Rs 361.99 crore in subsidy. In the Western region, 58,715 systems have been covered with Rs 416.30 crore, while the Eastern region accounts for 33,092 systems receiving Rs 231.95 crore.

The department said the scheme is helping increase solar adoption across the state while promoting clean and renewable energy.
