GWALIOR: A young man was allegedly shot at and assaulted in a suspected land dispute in Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior city on Saturday, police said.
The incident took place at PMT Square in the Thatipur area, where motorcycle-borne assailants allegedly surrounded the victim, beat him with sticks and later opened fire before fleeing the spot.
The injured man was identified as Ramveer Gurjar. Eyewitnesses said he was standing near the roadside when more than six attackers arrived on motorcycles and launched the attack.
Ramveer sustained pellet injuries in the firing and also suffered serious head injuries during the assault. He was rushed to hospital by locals, where his condition remains critical.
Preliminary investigation indicates the attack may be linked to an ongoing plot dispute between Ramveer Gurjar and his neighbour, Pintu alias Uday Gurjar. The two sides had reportedly been in conflict over the matter for the past few weeks.
Police said CCTV footage from nearby areas is being examined to identify the accused and establish the sequence of events. Further investigation is underway.
