Security Tight for President’s MP Tour

INDORE: President Droupadi Murmu will be on a five-day official visit to Madhya Pradesh from June 18 to 22, with extensive security and traffic arrangements in place across several districts.

The President will begin her visit in Indore before travelling to Omkareshwar to offer prayers at the Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga temple. On June 19, she is scheduled to attend a special awareness programme marking International Sickle Cell Day. She will also participate in events in Gwalior and Sheopur during the tour.

Authorities have declared the airport area and surrounding zones in Indore a temporary no-flying zone during VVIP movement. Traffic diversions will remain in force from June 17 to 19.

Heavy goods vehicles travelling on the Indore–Ichhapur route will be diverted through alternative routes connecting Mhow, Manpur, Dhamnod, Khargone, Bhikangaon and Khandwa.

Special arrangements have also been made for pilgrims visiting Omkareshwar on June 18 and 19. Vehicles will be directed to designated parking areas, from where visitors will proceed on foot for darshan and ritual bathing.

Buses carrying pilgrims from Indore and Khandwa will be parked at Mortakka, with local transport arranged to ferry passengers to Omkareshwar. Regular route buses will be allowed up to designated parking zones before passengers continue on foot.

Some roads will be temporarily closed during the President’s convoy movement and designated as no-vehicle zones. Traffic will resume once the convoy has passed.

According to officials, residents and pilgrims have been advised to follow traffic diversions and parking instructions and allow extra travel time during the President’s visit.
