Ukrainian drones hit a tanker at Russia’s port of Taganrog and struck an oil depot in the southern city of Armavir overnight, regional authorities said on Saturday, according to international media reports.
Rostov region Governor Yury Slyusar said fires aboard the tanker and at the Taganrog port were extinguished, and no oil spill was reported. He said two people were injured in the attack.
Taganrog, a port on the Sea of Azov with a population of about 240,000, has been under a local state of emergency since May 27. Mayor Svetlana Kambulova said the emergency measures had been extended.
In the neighbouring Krasnodar region, authorities said a fire at an oil depot in the Armavir industrial zone was brought under control. No injuries were reported.
Officials said nearly 50 drones were downed across the Rostov region overnight. The region borders Ukraine’s Donbas area, where heavy fighting continues.
Local authorities reported only minor damage outside Taganrog. The extent of damage to the tanker and any impact on fuel shipments remains unclear.
The strikes are the latest in a series of Ukrainian drone attacks targeting Russian energy and logistics infrastructure, which have periodically disrupted refineries, fuel depots, and ports during the conflict.
Russia and Ukraine have stepped up long-range drone strikes in recent months, with energy infrastructure remaining a frequent target on both sides.
There was no immediate comment from Ukrainian officials on the reported attacks, according to international media reports.
