Dog Bite Cases Rise in Gwalior

Gwalior: Dog bite cases are increasing in Gwalior and nearby areas. On Tuesday, the PSM Department of the 1,000-bed hospital under the Jaiarogya Hospital Group treated 99 dog bite patients. The total included both new patients and those returning for follow-up treatment.

According to media reports, a nine-year-old girl from Chinoor was attacked by a stray dog while walking to school on Tuesday morning. The dog bit her at three places before people nearby rushed to help and drove it away. She was first taken to a local health centre and later referred to the 1,000-bed hospital, where doctors gave her anti-rabies injections. She has been asked to return after two days for further treatment.

In another incident, a 10-year-old boy from the Gohad Chauraha area of Bhind district was bitten by a pet dog. He suffered deep injuries to his thigh and leg. According to media reports, he was taken to the same hospital and received anti-rabies treatment. His family has also filed a police complaint against the dog’s owner.

Doctors said anyone bitten by a dog should wash the wound immediately with soap and running water and visit a hospital without delay. Early treatment and anti-rabies vaccination can help prevent serious health problems.
