A massive fire that broke out at a plastic and packaging material warehouse in Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain district continued to burn for more than 15 hours on Monday, with firefighters working to bring the blaze under control.
The fire started late on Sunday night at a warehouse near a railway crossing in Badnagar. According to preliminary information, the blaze spread rapidly through the stock of plastic and packaging materials, engulfing a large part of the building.
Five fire engines from Badnagar and Ujjain, along with 28 water tankers, have been deployed to contain the fire. Despite continuous efforts, officials said the blaze had not been fully extinguished by Monday.
The warehouse is located close to a residential area and a petrol pump, prompting authorities to take additional precautions to prevent the fire from spreading.
The warehouse owner has estimated the loss at more than Rs 1 crore. Officials said the structure was weakened by the fire, and parts of the building may be demolished to help firefighters extinguish the remaining flames safely.
Initial findings suggest the fire may have been caused by a short circuit. However, the exact cause will be confirmed after a detailed investigation. No casualties or injuries have been reported so far.
