The trailer of ‘Batwara 1947’ has been released, offering a glimpse into the struggles and emotional impact of the 1947 Partition. According to media reports, the film focuses on the stories of families affected by violence, displacement and separation during one of the most difficult periods in history.
Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, the film stars Sunny Deol, Shabana Azmi and Preity Zinta in lead roles. The trailer shows a family forced to leave their home after Partition and struggle to protect their loved ones amid rising tensions.
Sunny Deol’s character is shown standing against hatred and violence while supporting the message of humanity and peace. Shabana Azmi plays an elderly woman who refuses to leave her home despite the difficult circumstances.
The film also features Karan Deol, Ali Fazal and Abhimanyu Singh in important roles. ‘Batwara 1947’ marks the reunion of Rajkumar Santoshi and Sunny Deol after nearly three decades.
The music has been composed by A.R. Rahman, with lyrics by Javed Akhtar. Produced by Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit, the film is set to release in cinemas worldwide on Aug. 14, according to media reports.
