BHOPAL: The Bhopal Municipal Corporation continued its drive against encroachments and illegal construction on Wednesday, removing roadside stalls, counters and kiosks near Campion School in the Food Street area of 1100 Quarters. The operation resulted in the seizure of goods loaded in seven trucks and one food truck.
The action was carried out following complaints received through the CM Helpline, call centre and other channels, as well as under the corporation’s regular enforcement drive.
Municipal teams also removed illegal tin sheds, thatched structures, tea and snack shops, and other obstructions from several parts of the city. A handcart was seized during the wider operation.
In other actions, illegal speed breakers were removed in Kolar Mahabali Nagar and Panchsheel Nagar, while paving slabs placed over a drain in Subhash Nagar were cleared. Two loading autorickshaws and two four-wheelers obstructing traffic near Prabhat and Mandi crossroads and in Punjabi Bagh were removed. An illegal thatched structure was also demolished in Semra.
The corporation said its anti-encroachment teams assisted the district administration in removing an illegal tin shed in Kundan Nagar, Awadhpuri, using a JCB machine.
The drive was carried out on the directions of Municipal Commissioner Sanskriti Jain.
