CJP Founder Calls for Festival Break From Protests

Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke has said the organisation will not hold protests until Diwali and urged supporters to spend the festive period with their families.

In a video message on Tuesday, Dipke asked supporters, whom he refers to as “cockroaches”, to take a break from demonstrations and spend time with their loved ones. He said recent events in Delhi may have caused concern among their families.

Dipke also spoke about CJP members Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, who remain in custody. He praised their resolve and criticised the government over the action against party members, alleging that state machinery was being used against them. The allegations could not be independently verified.

On Monday, October 19, Das and Ranka were reportedly remanded in judicial custody for two more days after appearing before a special executive magistrate at Mandir Marg police station in Delhi.

The two were initially placed in judicial custody for five days on October 13 following allegations that they had climbed over a locked gate to enter Jantar Mantar. The site had reportedly been removed from the list of designated protest venues a day earlier.

CJP activists had gathered there, displayed the national flag and raised slogans against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

Dipke’s announcement indicates a pause in the group’s protest activities during the festive period.
