Bhopal Collector Priyank Mishra has directed officials to ensure an uninterrupted supply of safe drinking water across the district during the monsoon. He also ordered stricter fire safety compliance, faster public grievance redressal and better monitoring of critical infrastructure.
The directions were issued during a meeting of the District Review and Monitoring Committee held at the Collector’s office on Monday. Senior officials from the district administration, Bhopal Municipal Corporation and other departments attended the meeting.
Reviewing the district’s water supply, Mishra said providing clean drinking water to residents remains the administration’s top priority. He instructed officials to strengthen water quality testing by using both government laboratories and Pollution Control Board facilities.
The Collector also directed officials to prepare a GIS-based map of the city’s main drinking water pipelines. He said the mapping would help authorities quickly identify leaks and respond to emergencies.
“Safe drinking water remains the administration’s top priority.”
Mishra asked officials to ensure that complaints received through the public water grievance system are resolved within the prescribed time. He said timely action would help maintain public confidence in the administration.
To improve long-term water management, the Collector suggested developing major water treatment plants and natural water bodies as public awareness and tourism sites. He also directed officials to prepare a plan to expand the reuse of treated water under the Urban Challenge Fund.
The meeting also focused on fire safety ahead of the monsoon. Mishra instructed officials to follow a zero-tolerance policy on fire No Objection Certificates (NOCs). He ordered regular inspections of schools, commercial buildings and high-rise residential complexes to ensure compliance with fire safety norms.
Officials were also directed to conduct regular mock drills to improve emergency preparedness and strengthen disaster response.
During the meeting, Bhopal Municipal Corporation Additional Commissioner Tanmay Sharma gave a presentation on the city’s water supply network. He informed the committee that all water treatment plants are operating at full capacity and that continuous monitoring is in place to ensure uninterrupted water supply.
