Bhopal Dairy Shop Inspected After Consumer Complaint

BHOPAL: The Food Safety Administration in Bhopal inspected a dairy and sweets shop after receiving a consumer complaint related to food quality, officials said.

During the inspection, officials collected statutory samples of curd and gram flour (besan) under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. The samples have been sent to the state food testing laboratory for analysis.

The department also issued an Improvement Notice and a show-cause notice to the food business operator, seeking a response and directing the establishment to address the observations made during the inspection within two days.

Officials said any further action, if required, will be taken only after the laboratory analysis is completed and the establishment’s reply and other available records are examined, in accordance with the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.

The Food Safety Administration said the exercise was carried out as part of its consumer grievance redressal process and reiterated that action under the law is based on scientific analysis and due procedure.

The department also appealed to residents to report concerns regarding the quality, purity or safety of food products so that complaints can be examined and appropriate action taken in accordance with the law.
