Khatu Shyam Temple Will Boost Religious Tourism in MP: CM Mohan Yadav

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav on Wednesday said the newly built Khatu Shyam Temple Barwani will boost religious tourism in Madhya Pradesh and help preserve the state’s spiritual and cultural heritage.

Dr. Yadav addressed the Pran Pratishtha ceremony and the 21-Kundiya Mahayagya virtually from his official residence. He said the state government is working to protect and develop ancient religious sites across Madhya Pradesh.

The Chief Minister said the Barwani and Nimar region has a rich tradition of saints, culture and folk art. He said these traditions continue to inspire people and strengthen social harmony.

Temple Expected to Support Local Communities

Dr. Yadav said serving people in need is the highest form of devotion. He added that faith and public service together reflect the values of Indian culture.

He said the new temple will become an important centre of faith. It is also expected to attract more devotees and visitors, creating new opportunities for local businesses and tourism.

The Chief Minister said religious tourism plays an important role in strengthening the local economy. He added that the temple will become a major landmark for the region.

CM Highlights MP’s Spiritual Heritage

Dr. Yadav said Madhya Pradesh is India’s leading state in spiritual, cultural and religious heritage. He said the government remains committed to preserving historic temples and other heritage sites.

Calling the occasion a celebration of faith and Sanatan culture, the Chief Minister described Baba Khatu Shyam as the “Haare Ka Sahara”. He said devotees believe Baba Khatu Shyam removes hardships and offers hope during difficult times.

According to the Chief Minister, Baba Khatu Shyam is believed to be the manifestation of Barbarika. He said Barbarika offered his head to Lord Krishna during the Mahabharata to uphold dharma and protect humanity. The act, he said, remains a symbol of courage, humility and selfless devotion.

Dr. Yadav said Mahant Shashi Giri Ji Maharaj decided to build the temple after completing the sacred Narmada Parikrama. The project was completed with the support of local devotees.

The programme was attended by MP Gajendra Patel, Barwani Zila Panchayat President Balwant Patel, Mahant Mahamandaleshwar Hari Surendra Giri Ji Maharaj, Khatu Shyam Temple President Shashi Giri Ji Maharaj, other saints, public representatives and devotees.
