MP Police Recover 1,021 Lost Mobile Phones Worth Rs 2.26 Crore

Bhopal, May 14: Madhya Pradesh Police has recovered 1,021 lost and stolen mobile phones worth more than Rs 2.26 crore across the state during the past two weeks.

Police officials said cyber teams and local police units used modern technology, the CEIR portal, cyber analysis and local intelligence to trace and recover the devices before returning them to their original owners. Citizens who received their phones back expressed gratitude to the police department.

Among the major recoveries, the cyber cell in Gwalior traced 571 lost mobile phones under the “Tera Tujhko Arpan” campaign. Officials said the recovered phones were worth nearly Rs 1.41 crore. Police also honoured citizens who voluntarily submitted unclaimed mobile phones at the cyber cell office.

In Satna, police recovered 155 mobile phones worth around Rs 29.31 lakh under “Operation Ringtone 2.0” using the CEIR portal.

Police teams in Guna traced and returned 64 mobile phones worth nearly Rs 12.5 lakh with the help of technical investigation and cyber tools.

Similarly, the cyber cell in Jabalpur recovered 106 mobile phones valued at nearly Rs 18 lakh.

In Agar Malwa, police recovered 81 lost phones worth more than Rs 15 lakh under “Operation Ringtone”. Officials also conducted awareness activities related to cyber safety, digital arrest fraud and traffic rules.

Meanwhile, police in Burhanpur solved a mobile shop theft case and arrested an accused person. Officers seized three mobile phones, two tablets, one iPod and other electronic items worth more than Rs 3.2 lakh.

Railway police units also carried out action in mobile theft cases. GRP Katni busted a mobile theft gang and seized 10 mobile phones worth around Rs 3.2 lakh, while GRP Jabalpur recovered four phones valued at Rs 67,000. GRP-RPF Ujjain arrested an accused person and seized 18 stolen mobile phones worth nearly Rs 1.88 lakh.

In Vidisha, Kotwali police arrested an accused person in a mobile theft case and recovered six stolen phones worth Rs 1.5 lakh.

Officials said the CEIR portal, Citizen Cop app and cyber cell investigations played a major role in these recoveries. The online complaint system now allows citizens to report lost or stolen phones from home, helping police take quicker action.

The CEIR (Central Equipment Identity Register) portal, operated by the Department of Telecommunications, allows users to block the IMEI number of lost or stolen phones and register complaints online for easier tracking and recovery.
