Woman accuses trader of giving fake notes

JABALPUR: A woman in Jabalpur has accused a sand trader of giving her fake currency notes worth Rs 15 lakh while returning borrowed money. She alleged that the bundles had genuine notes on the top and bottom, while the notes inside were fake.

The woman reached the Superintendent of Police (SP) office and filed a complaint after she claimed she did not get any help from the local police station. A deputy superintendent of police (DSP) has directed the concerned police station to investigate the matter.

The woman said she had financial dealings with the trader for a long time and trusted him because he had returned money earlier. She alleged that she received the amount through two men who came to her house on the trader’s instructions.

She said she went to the post office the next day to deposit the money, where officials checked the notes and found several fake currency notes in the bundles.

The woman alleged that when she informed the trader about the fake notes, he refused to return the money and threatened her. She later approached the police.

The accused trader has denied the allegations and said he had given genuine notes and was not aware how fake notes were found.

Police said the complaint has been received and the matter will be investigated. Further action will be taken based on the findings of the probe.
