BHOPAL: Actor Twisha Sharma was cremated on Sunday in Bhopal, 12 days after her death. Her brother, Major Harshit, performed the last rites. Family members, including her mother, were seen in an emotional state during the ceremony. Retired soldiers and several others attended the funeral.
Earlier in the day, a team from AIIMS Delhi conducted a second post-mortem examination on the actor’s body at AIIMS Bhopal. The procedure lasted around three hours. After completion, the team returned to Delhi. Samples and viscera have been preserved at AIIMS Bhopal, and the findings will be submitted in a sealed report.
Sharma was found dead on May 12 at her residence in Katara Hills under suspicious circumstances. While her in-laws have claimed it was a case of suicide, her maternal family has alleged murder, accusing her husband and in-laws.
The case is scheduled to be heard by the Supreme Court on Monday, which has taken suo motu cognisance of the matter.
Meanwhile, the accused husband was produced before a Bhopal district court on Saturday and remanded to seven days’ police custody. The court also ordered the seizure of his passport. A plea seeking cancellation of bail for the mother-in-law has been filed and is scheduled for hearing on Monday.
Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav has agreed to a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the case.
