PANNA: A tigress has given birth to two cubs in the Dhundhua Seha area of Panna Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh. Forest officials said the cubs are around 10 days old and both they and their mother are healthy.
To protect the tigress and her cubs, the reserve has temporarily stopped tourist entry into the affected tourism zone. A special forest team is monitoring the family round the clock using elephants and modern surveillance methods to ensure their safety and minimise any disturbance.
The Dhundhua Seha area is considered important in the history of Panna Tiger Reserve. It was the site where a relocated tigress gave birth to four cubs in 2010, marking a key milestone in the reserve’s tiger recovery programme after the local tiger population had disappeared.
Forest officials said the area has been placed on high alert. The restrictions are aimed at preventing any interaction between visitors and the tiger family while giving the newborn cubs a safe environment during their early days.
