INDORE: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav dedicated development projects worth more than Rs 60 crore in Indore on Sunday to mark the death anniversary of former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
According to media reports, CM inaugurated the newly built Atal Path, connecting Annapurna Road with Ring Road. The road was developed by the Indore Municipal Corporation at a cost of more than Rs 16 crore.
The chief minister also performed bhoomi poojan for several other projects, including a 1.38-km link road from Tigaria Badshah Main Road through Kushwah Nagar to Ujjain Naka-Banganga. The road will cost around Rs 18.09 crore.
CM paid tribute to Vajpayee and said his life was dedicated to national service, good governance and development. He described Vajpayee as a statesman, poet and orator who respected democratic values and was admired across political parties.
Atal Path to Improve Connectivity
The newly inaugurated Atal Path will improve connectivity for residents of Sudama Nagar, Vishwakarma Nagar, Annapurna Road and nearby areas.
The project includes a service road, footpaths, stormwater drainage, a green belt, street lighting and other civic facilities. Officials said the road is expected to improve traffic movement and reduce congestion in western Indore.
CM said the new link road from Tigaria Badshah Main Road to Ujjain Naka-Banganga would also support traffic movement during Simhastha. The project will connect areas including Super Corridor, Palakhedi and Bada Bangarda with Ujjain Road and Banganga.
Vajpayee’s Vision Still Relevant
CM said several major initiatives associated with Vajpayee’s tenure, including the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana and Golden Quadrilateral, helped strengthen India’s infrastructure.
He also referred to river-linking projects, including Ken-Betwa and Parbati-Kalisindh-Chambal, saying they would benefit Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
The chief minister said Narmada water had played an important role in the development of the Malwa-Nimar and Indore regions by supporting drinking water supply, irrigation and industry.
Focus on Modern Connectivity and Tourism
CM said Indore was rapidly developing as a metropolitan city. He highlighted projects such as the Indore-Ujjain route, Indore-Manmad Rail Project and Indore-Pithampur Economic Corridor, saying they would create opportunities for investment and employment.
He also highlighted helicopter services connecting Indore with Omkareshwar and Mahakaleshwar, saying the service would support religious tourism.
The chief minister said infrastructure projects worth around Rs 2,700 crore were underway in Omkareshwar.
Leaders Recall Vajpayee’s Contribution
Urban Administration and Housing Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya said Atal Path would remind people of Vajpayee’s ideals.
“Walking on Atal Path is easy, but following the path shown by Atal Ji is very difficult,” Vijayvargiya said.
Indore Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava said Vajpayee had a special relationship with Indore and urged people to follow his ideals.
MLA Malini Gaur also described the development projects as a tribute to the former prime minister. CM also released the booklet Jago Sanyasi Jago during the programme. Ladli Behna beneficiaries tied rakhis on the chief minister.
The chief minister travelled along Atal Path in an open jeep before reaching the main stage. Residents gathered along the route and welcomed him by showering flower petals.
