Bhopal civic body plans special cleanliness drive for Eid-ul-Adha

Bhopal Eid sanitation drive to ensure cleanliness during festival

The Bhopal Eid sanitation drive will begin ahead of Eid-ul-Adha to ensure better cleanliness, proper waste disposal and hygiene arrangements across the city, officials said on Friday.

Municipal commissioner Sanskriti Jain reviewed preparations during a meeting with officials from the health, transport and Swachh Bharat Mission departments at the civic headquarters.

During the meeting, Jain directed officials to complete all sanitation arrangements before the festival and maintain continuous monitoring during all three days of Eid-ul-Adha.

The civic body will deploy sanitation teams at Eid prayer locations, temporary slaughter sites and identified waste collection points across Bhopal.

Officials have also been instructed to ensure the availability of water tankers, lime powder, chemical sprays, waste containers and transport vehicles at all designated locations.

“The civic body has directed officials to ensure that slaughter waste is removed immediately and does not remain on roads or open spaces.”

The commissioner asked officials to strengthen monitoring of temporary slaughter points and ensure quick transportation of slaughter waste to disposal sites.

The Bhopal Municipal Corporation will also deploy additional vehicles and sanitation workers to maintain cleanliness in sensitive areas during the festival period.

Officials said sanitation workers would regularly clean roads near Eidgahs and other locations where people gather for prayers.

The commissioner further instructed departments to ensure uninterrupted electricity, water supply and logistical support at temporary slaughter and waste collection sites.

Additional commissioner Varun Awasthi, deputy commissioner Chanchlesh Girhare and senior health officials attended the meeting.

The civic body said all arrangements would aim to maintain public hygiene and prevent foul smell or health risks during the festival.
