MP Waqf Board action targets illegal property management
The MP Waqf Board action against alleged irregularities and illegal occupation has intensified after the implementation of the amended Waqf law. Officials said the board issued recovery notices worth more than Rs 41 crore and strengthened transparency measures across Madhya Pradesh.
Officials said the board has issued recovery notices worth more than Rs 41 crore against several managers and committees accused of causing losses to Waqf properties across the state.
Government says reforms improved transparency
The state government said the new legal framework has strengthened the administrative and legal powers of the Waqf Board.
According to officials, the board removed illegal encroachments from several Waqf properties and introduced stricter monitoring systems to ensure transparent management and public use of assets.
Mohan Yadav said the reforms aim to protect community assets and improve accountability in property management.
Recovery notices worth over Rs 41 crore issued
The Waqf Board said it has started legal proceedings against managers accused of damaging Waqf properties or running parallel administrative structures.
The biggest recovery notice of Rs 28.96 crore was issued to the management of Waqf Yateemkhana Shahjahanabad in Bhopal. Officials described it as one of the largest recovery actions in Waqf-related cases in the country.
Other notices include:
- Rs 7.21 crore against Waqf Madar Gate in Ujjain
- Rs 1.84 crore against Waqf Jama Masjid, Bina Bajaria in Sagar
- Rs 1.24 crore in the Barwali Chowki case in Indore
- Rs 1.05 crore linked to Waqf Hindu Anathalaya in Bhopal
Officials also issued notices against former office-bearers of Waqf Anjuman Islamia in Jabalpur over alleged financial losses.
Digitisation helped curb irregularities
Sanwar Patel said all Waqf properties in the state are now registered online, reducing the chances of manipulation and illegal transactions.
The board said Madhya Pradesh secured the top position in uploading Waqf property records on the government’s UMEED portal. The achievement earned the board a SKOCH Award.
Officials believe digitisation has increased transparency and discouraged encroachment attempts.
Scholarship support for students
The Waqf Board said it has provided financial assistance to more than 1,500 students to help them continue their education and prevent school dropouts.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav is scheduled to distribute scholarships to 849 meritorious students at Ravindra Bhavan in Bhopal.
Officials said similar programmes will be expanded to other districts in the coming months.
“Education support and transparent management are now central priorities of the Waqf Board,” officials said.
Five lakh saplings to be planted on Waqf land
The board has also announced a plantation campaign on Waqf land across Madhya Pradesh.
Officials said the target is to plant five lakh saplings during the upcoming monsoon season to promote environmental conservation and community participation.
