MP records over 19 lakh citizen responses in Swachh Survekshan drive

Madhya Pradesh has received more than 19 lakh citizen responses under Swachh Survekshan 2025-26, officials said on Wednesday.

Urban Development and Housing Commissioner Sanket Bhondve urged residents to scan QR codes and share feedback on cleanliness services in their cities.

He said all 406 urban local bodies in the state were participating in the survey conducted under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban).

“The strong public response shows growing awareness about cleanliness in cities,” Bhondve said.

Citizen feedback now carries more weight

Officials said the latest survey introduced major changes in the evaluation process.

The new system gives greater importance to citizen feedback and grievance redressal. Officials said city rankings would now depend more on public satisfaction and quick action on complaints.

Earlier editions relied mainly on administrative performance and official records.

Officials believe higher public participation can improve the rankings of cities from Madhya Pradesh in the national cleanliness survey.

State prepares plans for all 406 cities

Officials said all urban bodies prepared action plans under the revised framework.

The plans focus on waste management, visible cleanliness and direct interaction with residents.

The Urban Administration Department also increased the use of technology and online feedback systems to improve transparency and public participation.

Officials said the large number of responses reflected growing public involvement in cleanliness campaigns across urban areas.

Citizens asked to continue participation

The department appealed to residents to continue submitting feedback through QR code-based systems.

Officials said citizen participation would play an important role in improving city rankings and strengthening urban cleanliness systems across the state.

The department also plans to expand awareness campaigns in more cities over the coming weeks to encourage higher public participation.
