Actor Pooja Batra has said her height affected some casting opportunities during her Bollywood career, according to media reports.
Batra, known for films including Virasat, Jodi No. 1 and Nayak: The Real Hero, said taller actresses often faced challenges in the Hindi film industry during the 1990s and early 2000s.
According to media reports, Batra recalled actor Sangeeta Bijlani telling her early in her career that her height could become a hurdle in films.
Batra said she missed out on some projects because filmmakers and actors were conscious of height differences on screen. She also recalled making adjustments during shoots, including bending slightly in close-up scenes to balance camera framing with co-stars.
Speaking about her experience on the sets of Virasat, the actor said costume styling was sometimes used to reduce the visual impact of height differences on screen.
Batra also praised Salman Khan, her co-star in Kahin Pyaar Na Ho Jaaye, saying he never made her height an issue during filming and encouraged her to wear heels if she wished.
Reflecting on changes in the industry, Batra said Bollywood has become more accepting of taller actresses over the years due to evolving audience attitudes and modern cinematography techniques.
