INDORE, Madhya Pradesh: Five parked buses were destroyed after a fire broke out in the Navlakha area of Indore on Monday morning, according to media reports.
The incident occurred near Teen Imli in the Navlakha locality, where private buses are regularly parked. Fire brigade teams reached the spot after receiving information about the blaze and brought the fire under control after nearly an hour.
Preliminary information suggests repair work was underway on one of the buses when sparks from welding allegedly triggered the fire. The flames quickly spread to nearby vehicles, destroying five buses.
Local residents said more than 20 buses were parked at the site at the time of the incident. Several buses were moved from the area to prevent the fire from spreading further. Residents from nearby houses also came out onto the streets after seeing the flames.
Eyewitnesses reported hearing four explosion-like sounds during the fire, though officials have not confirmed the cause of the explosions.
Residents said complaints had previously been raised over private bus parking and repair work being carried out in a residential area. They alleged that the lack of action had created the risk of a major accident.
A protest was also held at the site, with residents demanding the removal of buses from the area and a permanent solution to the issue.
Police said no casualties were reported in the incident. Authorities are investigating the exact cause of the fire.
