INDORE: Mango lovers in Indore received a special treat on Friday as the three-day ‘Mango Jatra 2026’ began at the Rural Haat Bazaar. The fair, which will continue until May 10, is offering visitors an opportunity to taste authentic GI-tagged Hapus (Alphonso) mangoes brought directly from Maharashtra’s Konkan region.
More than five popular mango varieties are on display at the event, including Ratnagiri Hapus (Alphonso), Payari, Malda and Dasheri. The premium Hapus mangoes are priced between Rs 900 and Rs 1,300 per dozen depending on size, while smaller varieties are available for around Rs 500 for two dozen.
Payari mangoes, considered among the best for juice preparation, are also a major attraction at the fair. Malda mangoes, known for their sweetness and aroma, along with Kesar and several local Konkan varieties, are available at the stalls.
Apart from mangoes, the event also features Konkan-based food products and Marathi cuisine stalls. Visitors can also explore Indore’s popular street food options and a range of household products.
The fair is being organised by Marathi Social Group Trust and Hippo Corporation. Organisers said the main objective is to connect Konkan farmers directly with consumers in Indore without any middlemen. They added that all mangoes available at the event are naturally ripened and carry GI tags, ensuring authenticity and quality.
The fair aims to provide Indore residents with naturally ripened, chemical-free GI-tagged Hapus mangoes sourced directly from Konkan orchards.
In addition to mangoes, special Konkan products such as aam papad, kokum sherbet and jackfruit chips are also drawing visitors at the fair.
