MP becomes first state in India to launch full e-summons system for courts
MP has become the first state in the country to roll out a complete e-summons system, delivering more than 36 lakh summons and warrants digitally so far, Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav said on Saturday.
Speaking at a police programme in Jabalpur’s Tilwara area, the Chief Minister said technology is changing the way Madhya Pradesh Police works.
He said the state has also become the first in India to identify unknown bodies using a fingerprint database, and police have solved more than 1,200 difficult cases with help from the National Automated Fingerprint Identification System (NAFIS), which holds over 16 lakh fingerprint records.
Dr Yadav said more than 2.30 lakh pieces of digital evidence have been uploaded on the e-Sakshya portal. He added that Madhya Pradesh is also ahead of other states in registering e-Zero FIRs immediately after complaints come in through the NCRP portal and the 1930 helpline.
The Chief Minister inaugurated a new divisional police office worth around Rs 3.21 crore, 96 newly built constable homes worth Rs 22.57 crore, and a new Tilwara police station building worth close to Rs 2.80 crore. He also announced a new police station for Jabalpur’s Maharajpur area, saying police movement in the city is high because of the High Court located there.
Dr Yadav said barrack facilities for visiting police staff will be improved, and officers using the mess will get an allowance as per government rules. He also asked police to ensure a smooth journey for kanwar pilgrims during the ongoing month of Sawan.
On crime-fighting technology, the Chief Minister said 1,117 police stations and 693 senior offices across the state have been digitally linked. Police officers have also been given 25,000 tablets for faster investigation. He said the Dial-112 emergency service has been strengthened with 1,200 new vehicles worth about Rs 972 crore delivered to all districts.
Dr Yadav spoke about the human side of policing too. He said Operation Muskaan has reunited missing children with their families, while the Srijan programme has given women and children better protection. He added that the state’s Nashe Se Doori Hai Zaroori 2.0 campaign against drug abuse has been recognised by the World Book of Records, London.
The Chief Minister also credited Union Home Minister Amit Shah for ending nearly 35 years of Naxal violence in the state, saying districts like Balaghat, Mandla and Dindori had suffered due to it for decades.
He said the state government has filled more than 18,000 posts in the police department and cleared pending promotions for over 25,000 police personnel.
He also said the government will soon bring a scheme to help police employees buy their own homes, and new recruitment is underway to revive police bands in every district.
