GWALIOR:Police have registered a case after a 25-year-old married woman alleged that a distant relative raped her after promising to marry her in Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior district.
According to police, the woman said the accused had remained in contact with her even after her marriage and repeatedly pressured her to leave her husband. He allegedly promised to marry her and claimed he would provide a better life if she ended her marriage.
The woman alleged that on 19 May, the accused took her in a car on the pretext of an outing and drove to a secluded area near an old brick kiln in the Purani Chhawani area. She told police that he then raped her against her will after assuring her that he would marry her.
She further alleged that after the incident, her husband learned about the matter and asked her to leave their home. When she later contacted the accused and asked him to fulfil his promise of marriage, he allegedly refused.
The woman also alleged that the accused threatened to kill her two brothers if she reported the matter to the police or approached the court.
Police have registered a case on charges including rape and criminal intimidation. The accused is currently absconding, and search operations are underway to locate and arrest him. Police said the investigation is continuing.
