JABALPUR: A woman was allegedly shot dead by her business partner before the man died by suicide in Jabalpur on Monday afternoon, police said.
The incident occurred near Raju Duplex in the Gorakhpur police station area. Both were found dead at the scene.
According to police, the two were partners in a beauty parlour business. Preliminary investigations indicate that a dispute related to the business and financial matters may have led to the shooting.
Police said the woman was at her residence when the man arrived. An argument reportedly broke out between them, after which he allegedly shot her with a pistol before turning the weapon on himself.
Residents who heard the gunshots alerted police. Officers and senior officials reached the scene and found both victims dead. The area was cordoned off, and a forensic team was called to collect evidence.
Police seized the firearm and other materials from the scene. Mobile phones and documents belonging to both individuals have also been taken for examination.
Family members of the woman alleged that she had recently begun distancing herself from her business partner after learning about his criminal background. Police have not confirmed those claims.
Officials said the investigation is ongoing and the exact motive will be established after examining all evidence.
A senior police officer said neighbours reported hearing gunshots and informed police, who found both victims lying inside the room upon arrival.
